Common questions about moving to Ghost
Which platforms do you support?
We can migrate your data from: Substack, WordPress, Medium, Revue, MailChimp, Tumblr, Buttondown, ConvertKit, HubSpot, Gumroad, Podia, Memberful, Pico, and of course, Ghost. We do not support migrations from Squarespace, Wix, Drupal, Joomla, or any custom-built website.
How much does a migration cost?
We offer migration help when you make an annual payment on the Creator, Team, or Business plans. We do not offer migration services on the Starter plan. We ask that you make an annual payment before we begin migration work. Finally, annual payments are non-refundable once we’ve started your migration. Note: Migrations from HubSpot and RebelMouse are offered with an annual payment on the Business plan only.
How long does it take to complete a migration?
It depends! Most migrations have a standard lead time of two-three weeks. Large or more complex migrations may require more time.
Can you import all of my paid subscribers?
Ghost uses Stripe Connect, so if your current platform also uses Stripe Connect—and you’re able to get the correct exports that contain the correct Stripe data—we can migrate your paid subscribers, no problem. Subscribers can sign in to your Ghost publication using the same email address they used on your original platform—all of their payment details remain in place. We’re not able to migrate subscribers from third-party payment systems.
Can you transfer comments?
No. We’re not able to transfer post comments or community discussions from any platform. If you want to enable comments on your Ghost publication, you’ll need to use an integration such as Disqus or Cove. Both of these products integrate with Ghost, but require separate accounts and plans for those services.
Can you help customize my Ghost theme as part of the migration?
No. If you need help customizing your theme, consider hiring a Ghost expert. They can help edit an existing theme, or design and build a custom theme from scratch.
Will moving to Ghost hurt my SEO?
Negative! We’ll move all of your meta data if it’s available. And, Ghost provides detailed structured data (Schema.org), XML sitemaps, canonical tags, permalinks, and semantic markup. Plus you get the SEO benefits of having a site with high performance, and there’s the option to enable AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) if needed.
Can I get a product demo before I move to Ghost?
We don’t offer demos—sorry! The best way to learn more about how the product works is to sign-up for a free trial. If you’re moving over an established publication, we’re happy to chat on the phone to answer any questions.

Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and introduce yourself. Tell us about your publication and let us know why you’re looking to switch to Ghost. Share all the details and ask whatever questions you have—the more we know, the better.
We’ll reply with some answers and a few questions of our own to make sure we’re a good fit. If you don’t hear back from us right away—hang tight! You can expect a reply between 8am and 6pm EST, Monday-Friday.
