We took the McGill & Lyon Dental Advisory newsletter from a blank page to a fully launched membership platform on Ghost. The design was built entirely from scratch — a custom visual identity and layout tailored to a decades-old dental financial advisory brand, balancing the authority of a firm trusted since 1983 with a modern, easy-to-navigate reading experience across articles, podcasts, videos, seminars, and resource libraries.
From that design we developed a complete custom Ghost theme, hand-coding every template rather than adapting an off-the-shelf product. This covered the full member journey: tiered membership plans (free, online-only, and online-plus-print), gated premium content, gift memberships with physical fulfillment, an FAQ library, downloadable forms and guides, and CE seminar promotion — all structured so the client’s team can manage it day to day.
The most demanding part of the project was the data migration. We moved the entire existing subscriber base off Salesforce and into Ghost, while simultaneously wiring up Stripe as the new billing engine — mapping legacy member records, subscription tiers, and payment relationships so that every existing customer landed in the new system with the right access and billing intact. Migrations like this are where projects usually break; we handled it cleanly with no loss of member data or revenue continuity.
Beyond the core build, we delivered a range of additional custom work to extend the platform’s functionality and fit the client’s specific business needs, and we continue to support the site as it grows.
