Each staff user tied to your publication has their own profile, with settings that can be managed from the Settings → Staff area in Ghost Admin
Note, not all themes support displaying author details included in staff profiles.
- Profile pictures
If one is available, Ghost automatically uses the Gravatar picture tied to your email address as the author profile image. This is used across your publication’s theme by default.
To use a different image, click on the current profile image to upload a new one using the image uploader.
- Cover photo
To upload a cover photo with your staff user profile, which will be displayed on their author collection on the frontend of the site, click the Change cover button.
- Full name
The full name configured within the staff user profile can be set to a real name, or a pseudonym. The full name entered will appear in the byline with content published by the staff user on the site.
The slug configured for a staff user can be customized from the default that is automatically generated (created from the “full name” value), and will be used on the frontend of the publication to access the author’s collection of posts,
The email configured with the staff user can be altered at any time by the staff user, and will be used to login to Ghost Admin for the site.
An optional location can be configured with each staff profile and will be displayed within their author profile on the site.
A custom website URL can be configured alongside the staff user’s profile, which is handy if you’ve invited contributors to your site, and they’d like to include a link to their own publication.
- Facebook & Twitter profiles
Custom Facebook and Twitter profile links can be included with each staff user, should you wish to display a link to each, on an author profile page.
A custom bio can be inserted with each staff user, and will be displayed on their author profile pages on the frontend of the site. The staff user bio is limited to 200 characters.
When using the Members feature in Ghost, staff users can receive email alerts for the following events which occur on your site:
- New free member signups
- New paid subscriptions
- Paid cancellations
Each of these can be toggled on and off from the Email Notifications area of your staff profile.
Changing your password
To change the password tied to your staff user account, you’ll need to first enter the old password, as well as configure a new one.
Once saved, the new password will be required when logging into Ghost Admin.
